Question:I have run into several people who have tried the products and have said that there is not enough moisture. What do I tell them?Answer:First, you should make sure the person is using the correct products for dry skin. In addition to our active products, Nourish and Replenish, which everyone should use, people with dry skin should be using Gentle Cleanse, Anti-Oxidant Tone, and Hydrate. Sometimes people may think that they have normal or combination skin so they may be using the Foaming Cleanser. These people may want to move to Gentle Cleanse because it adds more moisture to the skin. Also, make sure the person is using both Nourish and Replenish as directed. You need to get the circulation and oxygenation from Nourish and the exfoliating properties from Replenish at different times of the day. The partnering or pairing of these products is important to maximize the benefits of both products. Certainly, anytime you change to any new product line, there will be a rebalancing period or a period where the skin gets back into its natural balance. During this period, if the skin is oily, it may become oilier; and if it is dry, it may become drier. This period of rebalancing may last several weeks. If people are still feeling a lack of moisture beyond this period, encourage them to continue using the products for dry skin and to add a small dose of Hydrate either in the morning, the evening, or throughout the day. Over time, most people’s skin will rebalance and recondition itself and may not need the extra moisture. Alternatively, a second dose of Nourish could be used, but you must be careful not to over stimulate the skin with the active products, as this can lead to breakouts. Because our skin is as unique as our bodies, we all have our own experiences. The most valuable advice I can offer to people is simply to “stick with it.” I have heard many people say that initially their skin was oily or dry but after using the products it is now normal. There really is a rebalancing period where the skin tries to figure out what it is supposed to do and how it is supposed to do it. The skin will figure it out; it knows how to rebalance itself.
