Question:

Why is sunscreen not an ingredient in some of NuVANTE products?

Answer:

This is an interesting question, because it really addresses the philosophy of the company, which is to design products that are "Simple, Active & Clean." NuVANTE's "active" products are rich in nourishing agents and cosmeceutical grade ingredients that have an active effect on the skin. The purpose of our active products, Nourish and Replenish, is to achieve this cosmeceutical effect where the ingredients actually penetrate the skin. If a chemical or ingredient is not necessary to achieve the desired results, adding it to a product simply exposes the consumer to one more avoidable ingredient or chemical.

For example, when you see a moisturizer with sunscreen or an active product with sunscreen out in the marketplace, for this sunscreen to be truly effective, you would need to apply it every 3-4 hours. What this means is that for you to realize maximum protection from the sunscreen (if we were putting it in the product) you would have to apply Nourish every 3-4 hours. With our purpose and philosophy, that does not make a lot of sense. Therefore, we make Nourish and Replenish sunscreen-free and offer a separate sunscreen that people can apply to parts of their bodies, which require sun protection at time intervals that are appropriate to derive maximum benefits from the product. In addition, for people who use Nourish and Replenish on parts of their bodies that receive no exposure to the sun, to add a sunscreen would be an unnecessary ingredient.
