Question:

Why are the following ingredients on the “Avoid” List: Collagen, Elastin and Parabens?

Answer:

Collagen and Elastin are often touted as beneficial for the skin because we know they are the actual final building blocks that make our skin have the structural support and youthful appearance. When we are young, collagen and elastin are being repaired constantly providing support to our skin, giving it the elasticity of youth. We lose that elasticity and support as we age. So, it would seem logical that Elastin and Collagen would be good for all skin. However, the Elastin and Collagen molecules are too big to be able to penetrate the skin and to do anything meaningful when they are applied from the outside. So, what NFTS did was to take the technology and science to put active ingredients in our products that the skin could absorb. That allows the skin to do a better job of actually making the Collagen and Elastin work.

As regards Parabens, they are a preservative system, but not a particularly desirable one. In fact, Parabens have been found to be able to penetrate the skin and have a hormonal effect on the skin and the body. They can block and impede the way that hormones work and can be detrimental to your health.
